THIRD-PARTY COATING INSPECTION

Coating Specialist Services (CSS) can assist you with your project’s QA/QC requirements.

CSS will act as an independent inspection company to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of protective coatings applied to surfaces on your project. We will support you throughout the project, from surface preparation to the final coat application.

We will assess the work and review the documentation to ensure it aligns with the project specifications. By identifying potential issues early, we can help you save time and avoid costly reworks on your project.

CSS can carry out the following inspections (amongst many more):

Assessment of Surface Condition

Evaluation of the surface condition for cleanliness, roughness, chlorides, and any visible defects that might affect coating adhesion or performance.

Visual Inspection

Examination of the coated surface for any signs of damage, such as cracks, blistering, peeling, or uneven application.

Dry Film Thickness Measurements

Dry film thickness (DFT) checks on coatings are essential for ensuring that coatings meet specified requirements and perform effectively.

Adhesion Testing

Adhesion testing assesses how well the coating adheres to the substrate. Methods may include pull-off tests, tape tests, or cross-cut tests to determine if the coating remains firmly attached under stress.

Holiday Detection

This test identifies any discontinuities or defects in the coating that could lead to corrosion. It involves using an electrical device to detect breaches in the coatings integrity.

Documentation & Reporting

Compile documentation, including photographs, measurements, and test results. A detailed report will be provided showing findings, highlighting any deficiencies and recommendations for corrective actions.

Overall, CSS can verify the quality and reliability of your protective coatings, ultimately extending the service life of your valuable assets and reducing the risk of premature failure or corrosion-related damage.
